Basic Info
Name:shootandillmove
Birthdate:1988-05-04
Location:Forest of Illusion, Gensokyo, Japan
Bio
Player's Name: Muffy
What Kingdom Hearts games have you played/watched/read? 1, 2, read CoM script
AIM/email: Muffunculus / magicchromatic
LJ: Brasknote

Character: Marisa Kirisame
Series: Touhou Project
Version: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody
Age: U.N. Owen Unknown (appears about 16-18)
Gender: Female
Sexuality: presumably bisexual.
Appearance: A young “black-white” witch with long side-braided blonde hair and an energetic face. She does her best to dress as a “western” witch might, though due to her local materials, it seems to have a slightly “eastern” feel. As appropriate of a witch, she’s dressed in a sleeveless black button-up dress with a poofy white undershirt, poofy white apron and poofy white bloomers (not that you should be seeing those, anyhow.) Atop her head, you’ll find a black witch’s hat with a wide rim and white lace. Of course, she’s usually carrying (or being carried by) a large broom made of bundled straw, though unlike most witches’ brooms, the body seems to be made of aged bamboo instead of a more traditional wood.

Personality: Marisa is the kind of person who sets her mind to something and charges forward with overwhelming dedication and confidence until she’s gotten it.
She loves competition (but hates losing) and prefers to only see people when visiting them (usually causing a scene), hiding at home alone the rest of the time.

To some, Marisa’s confidence, disrespect for others, constant (obvious) lying and blatant magical plagiarisms might come off as brash or aloof but, she’s actually a deeply compassionate person. She’s just too busy focusing on her goals at the moment to start focusing on those who she sees as small-fry.

Abilities/Weaponry:
<<The strength of this Marisa has been downplayed to prevent bulletspam god-modding. Should you meet an actual Marisa Kirisame, This profile may be unsuitable guidance. >>

Flight: Marisa rides a broomstick and travels at breakneck speeds on it; much of her combat is based on the speed she gets from this. (i.e. charging the enemy and then making a quick retreat) Se can fly without the broom, but isn’t nearly so fast. She’s quite an adept flyer and an experienced dodger. (Marisa gets shot at a lot, almost on a daily basis and as such she is now very good at dodging things large and small.)

Cards: Marisa can seal a variety of things in charmed paper cards for later release. These things can range from meals to spells and are instantly released when the card is torn or unsealed. She has a limited number of cards and will likely not be able to procure more in Paixao.

Magical Sensitivity: Though not nearly so adept as most other magic users, Marisa is remotely sensitive to the flux and direction of magical flow. I.e. she would sense major disturbances.

Magical Chemistry: The source of most of Marisa’s magic is outside sources, mostly mushrooms and herbs.
She uses these herbs to make magic fuels, potions and charms which she then either seals in spell cards, keep in a pocket or ingests for storage. Sadly, with the absence of herbs and living fauna in Paixao, Marisa will lack the necessary ingredients for much of her fuels and will likely resort (after quite some research and time) to a crystal based fuel that won’t work as well.

Danmaku, [Light signs, Star signs, Love signs and Ritual signs]: Using her fuels, Marisa makes magic reactions which she can then influence the shape and course of with her own magical field into a wide variety of bullets, beams, sprays, comets, bursts and barrages. These reactions are separated into a variety of signs which reflect the properties of the magical reaction. (Love signs being a spirit based reaction, Light signs light based, Star signs heat based and Ritual signs faith based.) Marisa likes to keep things impressive with bright colors, shapes and stars, because “it’s not magic if it’s not flashy.”

The most notable of these signs are; the Master Spark (stolen from Yuka) and the non-directional laser, (stolen from Patchouli), a star sign and love sign respectively.
• The Master Spark is a 3-foot diameter penetrating cannon of blindingly white light erupting from the hakkero that cannot change direction after being fired and persists for about 16 seconds before fading.
• The non-directional laser is actually a smaller persistent beam that Marisa fires from her pointer finger and requires a specific spell card to power it.

Magical Plagiarism: Marisa isn’t very creative when it comes to spells, her real talent lies in stealing the particularly inventive spells she sees others using. While it’s unclear whether she’d have much luck recreating the magic of other universes, she would still try to take the general concept of spells she found interesting.

Hakkero, Trigram Reactor: a handheld magic furnace that runs on latent magic in the area and human spirit. Marisa uses it to power her [love sign] Master Spark as well as using it much of her own magical field.

Weaknesses: Most of the necessary ingredients for the majority of Marisa’s magic are not present in the city of Paixao, greatly weakening her magic potential.

At the end of the day, Marisa is 100% human, maybe even a bit on the frail side by Paixao standards, one hit and she might be out for hours and nursing it for days. She is completely reliant on her speed and agility in a fight and once caught or cornered she’s already lost the fight.

Marisa is also brazen, compulsive, a compulsive liar, a packrat, overly competitive, a sore loser, easy to anger, at times just outright rude and prone to kleptomania, but she claims this is all in the name of fun.

Also, Marisa only has a passing idea of the technology of the outside world and many of her assumptions on technology are outright wrong, leading her to waste much of her time doing things wrong.

History: Born in a small town in Gensokyo, a pocket universe cut out of Japan 1200 years ago as a retreat for magicians, youkai and demons to hide in while the outside world grows without them, Marisa was largely unexciting, unlike most of her friends and neighbors, she had no innate magical ability, she is neither ghost nor youkai and instead of fearsome warriors her bloodline is a bunch of shop keeps.
Though that never stopped Marisa, despite being the magical runt that she was, she studied various grimoires while working in her family antique shop alongside Rinnosuke Morichika, a half-youkai with an astounding talent for finding items of magical import who only wanted to open a small shop of his own on the edge of the forest so that he could sell to humans and youkai alike. (He would later find that his shop only attracted weirdoes)
Despite their odd reversal of dreams and potential, Marisa and Rinnosuke got along great, Rinnosuke teaching Marisa what little magic he knew magic and Marisa scaring off customers so they couldn’t bothered by them. Eventually Rinnosuke came across a particularly impressive item, a miniature magic reactor, the hakkero, which generated magical potential from human spirit and gave it to Marisa as a gift, enabling her to turn something she had a lot of (spirit and attitude) into something she had very little of (magical ability).
Sadly, not long afterwards, Marisa had a falling out with her father over her wanting to pursue a career in magic and left the village to learn magic elsewhere.
In the forest of illusion, she took to the tutelage of a ghost with a vendetta against mankind named Mima, who utilized Marisa in her ploys of revenge against mankind.
Over the course of several unsuccessful ploys, Marisa came into constant combat with a miko her age who never trained, never read a book in her life and still consistently beat Marisa into the ground much to the young witch’s infuriation. Over time however, the miko, whom we now know as Reimu Hakurei convinced Mima to give up her vendetta and pass on to the other side and Marisa to take up private study in a small house in a glen of the forest not too far from the shrine. As time passed, the two became good friends and on several occasions flew out together and quelled (and caused) disputes and problems that arise around the sphere of Gensokyo making them somewhat of the area’s police force.

*smack noise* Shikigami, make me some tea!

*smack noise* Shikigami, find someone with half a brain!
*grumbling* Why doesn’t this hunk of junk work? Rinnosuke always said they were an outside world shikigami, but I’m beating it up and it isn’t doing laundry or anything… What am I doing wrong?

Come on ze~ lets just have a little chat and talk a bit hm? Were both lost and alone and don’t know what happening and there’s this amazing girl beating the crap out of us because we won’t speak up and..... hm? rgh.

Didn’t he once say something about them being elementally weak to water? …Hey shikigami, if you don’t speak up something I’ll start dipping you in every lake for a 3 mile radius.

Sample RP post: It was like one of those moments where a long and complex chain of thoughts suddenly snaps and falls away and you can no longer remember anything about the long and drawn out thoughts you had just spent 30 minutes postulating except physical, Marisa was standing on a soft patch of well worn grass she’d never stood on before, in front of a city gate she’d never crossed through and behind her was nothing but a soft open plains and a shallow white seashore. She knew it must have been quite some to do for her to get all the way here, but it was as if the journey must have slipped her mind since she couldn’t summon any reasons that might have brought her to such a strange crossroad.
While the grassy knolls behind her certainly seemed more inviting, the city ahead was more likely to help the young witch uncover the secret of her missing memories and she agreed with herself to go ahead and sate her curiosity within the city and then to go explore the fields.
With a soft step and a light spring Marisa advanced on the city gate with a blatant disregard for human life, swinging gracefully through each and every person rightfully in line in front of her until she arrived at the gate booth, where a wonderfully sugar-coated attendant spewed, “name?”
“Marisa Kirisame, ze~ Now listen I-“
“Welcome to Paixao, enjoy your visit”, the attendant walked all over her verbally, all the while maintaining his pixel perfect smile plastered across his face and handed her a stack of paper, plastic and detritus.
With that, the line advanced carelessly and pushed Marisa forward, landing her against the ground with a “Wait I *whack*”
Moments later, a small wisp of black smoke can be seen rising above the horizon from where the booth once stood and with that Marisa had entered the city of Paixao.
